Case : scabies
On one of the mobile clinic rounds to the villages of Hama , to Tullef , the owner's wife with donkey stopped SPANA team to ask us that their donkey was infected with scabies. Immediately , the donkey was examined and it was noticed that she was infected with scabies. So, the donkey was given dose of ivermectin, and the places of infection were anointed with doplex. The owner was given the ointment of doplex to anoint the donkey daily , and she was advised to isolate the infected animal from the others. Also she was advised to clean the donkey weekly with special shampoo for external parasites. After 15 days , the donkey was given second dose of ivermectin. The treatment continued for 25 days until the complete recovery .
The owner thanked SPANA for their charity, and the family were very happy for their donkey because they were used her daily ( about 5-6 hours )in many works ; they used her in transporting the fodder from the lands to the house for the cows, and for transporting the excrements of animals from the house to outside of the village. Also they used her in transporting the corps of lands and for transporting the family and their products. So, the donkey was very important animal for the family.
